Leave wintery thoughts behind and behold this breathtaking orchid exhibition

The Botanical Gardens are getting ready for the spring. The first multicoloured blossoms to take your breath away will be displayed in the tropical glasshouse Fata Morgana. An annual orchid exhibition, which is to take place in March, will bring an infinity of shapes and vivid colours that are sure to make an orchid buff’s jaw drop.

Orchids all over the Fata Morgana

The Czech College of Horticulture and Garden Design students will turn the exhibition hall of the tropical glasshouse Fata Morgana into a colourful oasis aptly reminding visitors of Southeast Asian forests. This exhibition will show a multitude of various colourful orchid species, an integral feature of these forests. The exhibition, which opens between March 3 and 25 this year, has traditionally served as a great opportunity to put oneself in spring mood. And it will be a great chance to leave wintery thoughts behind this time round as well. Gates open Tuesday-Sunday between 9am and 6pm. In addition to marveling at a large number of exquisite blossoms, visitors will have a chance to learn interesting facts about orchids. And even if a live sample of your favourite orchid species is not displayed, don’t worry. You will find it in one of the photographs that accompany the exhibition.

Take a refreshing walk spiced up by a ferry journey across the Vltava River. You will reach the Botanical Gardens in about 40 minutes.
