Prague has a wealth of options. One of the most popular summer cinemas is at ‘MeetFactory’. The MeetFactory summer cinema is for free and it screens with Czech or eventually English subtitles every Wednesday (at 9:30 p.m. in July, at 8:30 p.m. in August and September).
Another famous place is at ‘Kasárny Karlín’, there you are able to watch a movie under any weather conditions. The cinema projects each Thursday and Saturday for 80 CZK.
Žluté Lázně cinema screens a movie every Saturday and Tuesday night at 9:30 p.m.. The cinema is situated at ‘Podolské Nábřeží’ and you pay 50 CZK per ticket.
Romantic cinema under the stars lies by the riverside at Čertovka (in the garden of Werich Villa). The entry is 120 CZK apiece + 100 CZK refundable deposit for headphones, with films beginning at 9:30 p.m. on the 14th and 28th July, and on the 11st and 25th August.

It screens all kinds of films for any type of film fans.

Open-air Theatre

At the end of June, The Kalich Theatre opened the open-air theatre at a very attractive place below the Žižkov television tower in Mahler Gardens in Prague 3. The audience can look forward to a ‘Starry summer below the Žižkov tower’. You will have fun with many elite actors from the theatre sphere. There will be as many theatre stars on the stage as nowhere else. The Kalich Theatre invited acting stars from many Prague theatres. You can enjoy the best of their staging under the stars. Thanks to a motorized retractable roof you don’t have to worry about the weather conditions. You can truly enjoy an undisturbed sociable evening. Days and times might be different depending on each performance so please follow the programme of ‘The Starry summer’.

Another lovely place where you can spend an unforgettable evening is by Krizik Fountain in Prague Exhibition Grounds (‘Výstaviště’). Come to watch the incredible water show and the lighting effects with the background of the movie or classical music.

Botanical Gardens offer a unique winter spectacle these days

Botanická zahrada Troja má co nabídnout i v zimě
It may seem hard to believe, but Botanical Gardens in Prague have lots to offer even in winter months. Visitors have a chance to marvel at how enigmatic a jungle can be at night. And the outdoor areas can be equally captivating too, if only because of their marvellous and unusual seasonal colours.

The garden areas, which cover approximately 170 acres, are situated in the Trója Basin in Prague-Trója. There are an abundance of tree and plant species – presently there are about 15,000 of them, a third of which are grown in greenhouses. The outdoor areas offer a multitude of places to relax. In the summer as well as in winter months a visitor may take a walk through a Japanese garden, an Oriental garden as well as an ornamental garden that leads to a tract with North American prairie species.

A jungle that never sleeps

Visitors to the gardens who come before March 24 have a unique opportunity to take a stroll down a dark primaeval forest. Plunging into Fata Morgana, a dark greenhouse, experience what it feels like to be absorbed in listening to the sounds of a primaeval forest at night. One of the things you might be surprised by is the intensive smell of a jungle at night. This is going to be a highly captivating spectacle, particularly if you opt for a commented night tour where the only source of light is the guide’s lantern.
A commented tour through the gardens at night is definitely worth trying. However, make sure you make a reservation in advance as the service may be fully booked.
Tours take place:

in January – Fridays from 6 pm
in February – Fridays and Saturdays from 6 pm
in March – Fridays and Saturdays from 6:50 pm

Multicoloured botanical gardens in winter

An absolute treat for visitors in winter months – especially when there is snow – are the blossoms of American witch-hazel (Hamamelis virginiana) found in the northern section. Coloured camo patterns of the bark of lacebark pine (Pinus bungeana) delightfully complement the grey sleeping vegetation in the gardens. While the tree is native to northeastern China, visitors can find it in the central part of the Botanical Gardens. There is no entrance fee to the outside areas until the end of February.

The Břetislavka Residence team wish you a wonderful time discovering the beauties of Prague in winter.

Tons of new exciting things waiting for you at Břetislavka in 2018

The whole Břetislavka Residence team wish you a very happy new year filled with health, happiness and luck. We are as excited to be here for you in 2018 as we were in the previous years, and we are ready to do our best to make you feel as comfortable as possible here. Your dreams and wishes are our priority – that is why we have prepared lots of new exciting things to make your stay unforgettable.

A shared library

Our residence is soon going to feature a shared library. This means our guests will have an opportunity to borrow something nice to read as well as lend their own books to others. As of now, we still have to decide where the library will be situated (there are a number of appropriate spots). Rest assured, though, that as soon as we make the decision, you will be informed. Stay tuned!

An even cosier garden for our guests to relax in

True, we have not even made it through January yet. But does that mean we cannot start looking forward to the arrival of spring as early as now? Of course we can – in fact, our guests can do it indoors as well as outdoors. As early as now those of our guests who are not sensitive to cold can sit back on one of the new benches we have recently installed in our garden. And even if you’re one of the people who shake from cold even with two sweaters on, don’t despair. The weather is going to start to get warmer in several weeks at the latest. A day will come that even you can relax on a garden bench wearing just a T-shirt. Oh and how about working with your computer while listening to birds singing at the same time?

You can invite some of your friends and have a barbeque. We have some new grills that are at your disposal.

Discover the Czech Republic from your plate or while doing sport

There are quite a few more ideas we are going to be introducing to you throughout 2018. These include a special offer of farmers’ products that come directly from our farms in České středohoří, a hilly region in the north of Bohemia. As we take caring of you and your health seriously, we have prepared some exciting sports activities to make your stay with us healthy, engaging and memorable. We would like some of these to be surprises and hope you understand we prefer to keep the details secret just yet.

Right after home

We do our best to stand to our motto – “Right after home”. And based on the feedback we receive we believe we are successful at that. Thank you very much for your support and let us wish you a delightful and comfortable stay at Břetislavka Residence. It is our pleasure to be here for you.

Discover Prague’s beautiful sights from the seat of your bicycle

While packing stuff for your trip to the Czech capital, make sure you bring some sports clothes and a cycling helmet. If you can, it’s a great idea to take your bike with you (don’t worry if you can’t, you can hire one). There is a very dense network of cycle routes connecting virtually all parts of the city.

Check out the Prague cycle route map, choose the right route for you and pedal off to discover Prague.

From Břetislavka down the Šárecké Údolí Valley

Let’s start right next to the Břetislavka Residence. A tranquil trail takes us down the Šárecké Údolí Valley all the way to Šárecký Park. It’s up to you to decide if you want to continue towards the centre of Prague or plunge into the countryside. Šárka – Lysolaje Park offers dozens of kilometres of cycle routes in a variety of difficulties and surroundings terrains ranging from lush green to rocky. Visitors may connect cycling with discovering the history of Prague and its legends (the hill called Dívčí skok – A Girl’s Jump). Tourists have a chance to discover Prague from the tops of a number of observation towers. Refreshments may be enjoyed in one of the restaurants. And if a refreshing bath is what you’re up to, we recommend dipping into Džbán, a natural lake situated nearby.

Cycling along the Vltava River

The Vltava River is just a stone’s throw away (3 minutes by bike) and both of its banks offer beautiful cycle routes.

Cycle Route A1 leads along the left bank of the Vltava River, connecting the towns of Roztoky (north of Prague) with Radotín (south of Prague) as well as a number of places within Prague.

Alternatively, one may take a ferry to the other bank and try Cycle Route A2. This route leads north all the way to the town of Mělník or south to Komořany and Hostivař Natural Park.

Cycle Routes in Prague 6

Cycle Route A171: Suchdol to Nebušice

This route starts next to the premises of the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague-Suchdol and leads through Lysolaje to the town of Nebušice. The terrain is hilly and the length is 5 kilometres. One of the ways of getting back to Břetislavka is across the Šárecké Údolí Valley.

Hvězda Game Preserve in Prague-Letná

If you want to see Hvězda Game Preserve, one of the ways to get there is to pedal across the Šárecké Údolí Valley and Lysolaje Park. If you feel like it, you can continue from here all the way to Letná, Strahov and Hradčany.

Cyklostezka Břetislavka-obora Hvězda

Cycle Route No. 201

Another tip for an exciting bike trip is taking Cycle Route 201. Leading along the White Mountain and cutting through Prague-Dejvice, this route connects the lowest and the highest places in Prague. That’s why one should prepare for some hill climbing. The route, which leads from Bubeneč to Zličín, is 13.6 kilometres long and is well marked.

Prague is a terrific place for cycling trips. There are relaxed routes in the country as well as routes leading down busy streets. The choice is yours.

The Břetislavka Residence team wish you exciting cycling trips in Prague.
