Over 680 animal species
The Prague Zoo is home to over 680 animal species. If you wish to discover every single nook and cranny of the zoo, we recommend you spend a whole day there. The zoo boasts an area of almost 150 acres, which is shared by 24 different pavilions providing home to animals from all over the world. You may also see nearly extinct species there such as western lowland gorillas or Przewalski’s horses. Encounter well-known as well as the most peculiar animal species from all of the Earth’s continents.
Obora Observation Tower offers terrific views
Trója Park is found at the base of a rock which is a significant element forming the zoo’s character. One can get to the top of this rocky hill on foot or by cable car. The reward you can expect is beautiful views of the surrounding areas. If you choose to walk up the wooden stairs of Obora Observation Tower, the views its top offers will be equally fascinating.
Take a ferry across the Vltava River to get to the zoo
It takes about six minutes to walk from Břetislavka to the Vltava River (if there is no bus at the moment). A journey by Baba ferry across the river takes about 3 minutes. The ferry service is available seven days a week from the morning until 10pm and the boat departs every 15 minutes (regular Prague public transport ticket are valid). You can get to the Prague Zoo from Podhoří by bus as well. However, taking a walk along the Vltava River (which hardly takes some 20 minutes) is a more beautiful option.
